A Guide To Summer Vacation Fashion For Men
As the weather turns warmer, men start getting the itch for summer vacation. The summer months are a time for sizzling cookouts, lazy days at the beach, and riding around in the car with the top down. You will notice that the common theme of these activities is relaxation. Summer vacation is meant to be enjoyed in a casual, comfortable manner, and a mans clothing should reflect this. Whether for spending a week at the beach or for simply relishing being away from work with a day trip to town, here are some summer vacation fashion tips for men.
It is the summertime, so be prepared to feel the sun shining down on many days. For this reason, sunglasses are a good idea. They will shield your squinting eyes from the glare and from potentially harmful UV rays. The style is not terribly important, as the idea is to provide protection, not necessarily make a fashion statement. Men must address footwear as well, and sandals are great for making a carefree impression, not to mention they are quite comfortable. Because you are on vacation from the hustle and bustle, overdressing is unacceptable; therefore, khakis and shorts will go nicely with the sandals. Socks and sandals, however, are a sin.
They might be bordering on the pass©, but Hawaiian shirts are fun ways to bring out a mans inner clown. These shirts are great for walking down the boardwalk or even enjoying a casual round of golf. The carefree nature of these colorful tops does not translate well in the evening, however, so collared golf and polo shirts are better when soaking in nightlife. Popping the collar is a major faux pas, so resist this irrational urge.
Summer vacation is synonymous with summer heat, so be sure to pack some shorts. Lighter colors are made for soaking up the sun, while darker shades are better for the cooler nights. You may think that the denim shorts you have had since 1992 are comfortable, but that material is a thing of the distant past. When sipping a drink at the club or having a bite to eat at a quiet restaurant, khakis or chinos will keep men looking stylish yet reserved. Jeans are fine in some situations, but their wear should be kept to a minimum.
Men should leave formality behind while on summer vacation. That does not mean it is time to throw on a baseball cap and look sloppy, but three-piece suits are certainly not the order of the day. Casual, collared shirts and comfortable slacks will usually get you by just fine, and your summer vacation will be spent fashionably.
