The new-school punk band formed in San Diego in the early '90s and guitarist/vocalist DeLonge, bassist/vocalist Hoppus and original drummer Scott Raynor self-released an EP titled Fly Swatter in 1993. The group was known simply as Blink but after releasing the LP Cheshire Cat via Grilled Cheese/Cargo in 1994 they were forced to change their name to blink-182 because of a similarly-named Irish band.
